The property is in the Eastern Algarve (this area is much less
developed than the West) in a quiet, low rise resort consisting
solely of private villas and apartments - there are no hotels!
There are 3 golf courses within 10 minutes drive. Windsurfing
and kite surfing including lessons plus boat rental in Cabanas.
There is a sports club just 200m away with tennis courts.
Children's play park with slides etc. at the end of block.
Nearest restaurant is 100m.
6km East of Tavira - past the golf course at Benamor - lies
Cabanas, with a kernel of backstreets made up of pretty
fishermen's houses and a line of low rise shops, cafes and bars
facing a picturesque river estuary. There is a great range of
restaurants in Cabanas and good transport links to other towns.
Moored fishing boats testify to the villages former mainstay,
though nowadays the economy is largely driven by tourism thanks
to the glorious sands on Praia da Cabanas over the estuary and
to the ruins of an old sea fort just east of the town, Boats
shuttle passengers to the beach (April to Oct, 1.30 € return).
Cross the dunes and you're faced with miles of golden sand plus
a couple of seasonal beach cafes.

The beach really is fantastic - white gold fine sand and gently
sloping entry to the sea - and backed by the Ria Formosa Nature
reserve. The boat takes just 2-3 minutes and runs back and
forwards all day from 9am to 7pm and then there is a 300m
boardwalk which is suitable for buggies (over the dunes, to
protect them).
The Apartment: Two bedrooms, two bathrooms (one en-suite) and
well equipped, this ground floor apartment is just a 5 minutes
walk to beach front - accessed by small boat - 2 minute ride.
The bedrooms can be configured as doubles or twins. The kitchen
is well-fitted and includes a full oven, hob, fridge freezer,
washing machine and microwave, and has a small balcony for
sitting outside. There is also a double sofa bed in the living
room, sleeping 2.
The apartment is well furnished, with air conditioning and
heating in the bedrooms and living room, making it a perfect
summer or winter destination. There is a TV / DVD, combi
Hi Fi, and a good range of books, CDs, DVDs and games.
The area is safe for children as it is pedestrianised at the
front, with gardens at the back and parking is 50m away. There
are just 5 steps up to the apartment.
